MT. PLEASANT, MI (WNEM) -
Central Michigan University has created a campaign to get students and fans of the Chippewas to attend the Little Caesars Pizza Bowl on Dec. 26.
The Chippewas football team of the MAC Conference will play Western Kentucky University of the Sun Belt Conference in the annual game. The campaign at CMU is titled "C' You in the D." The game will take place at Ford Field in Detroit.
"I'm pleased to have CMU's loyal fans rally around the program and come out in big numbers," says Dave Heeke, CMU Athletics director. "I am proud of our players and coaches and happy they're able to extend their season.
"CMU Chippewas are known for their pride and their spirit," Heeke said. "December 26 will be a huge, fun night in Detroit."
As part of the campaign, CMU Athletics is offering fans the opportunity to purchase their tickets at discount prices through the CMU Football Facebook page. Fans who purchase their tickets through Facebook will be entered in a drawing to win one of three prizes, including a Little Caesars Pizza Bowl apparel package worth approximately $300.
Ticket prices for sideline seats are $25 for adults. CMU is offering a family pack of four tickets for $75 and a rate of $15 for groups of 10 or more. Student tickets are $10 and are available in person only at Ticket Central in the CMU Events Center.
The Chippewas played in a Detroit bowl game three times from 2006-08, when it was known as the Motor City Bowl. This bowl game will be CMU's fifth in the last seven years.
The week before the game, CMU head football coach Dan Enos will meet with Western Kentucky head football coach Willie Taggart for a media conference at Comerica Park Dec. 13 at noon.
Kickoff is scheduled for Dec. 26 at 7:30 p.m. The game will be televised on ESPN. Tickets can be purchased through CMU starting Thursday at 8 a.m. by calling 1-888-FIRE-UP2, in person at Ticket Central in the CMU Events Center atrium, on the CMU Football Facebook page and on the CMU Athletics website .
