Booker questions remain after BV Twp. meeting

BUENA VISTA TOWNSHIP, MI (WNEM) -

From the moment Brian Booker was fired, there has been speculation as to why he lost his job and if would he get it back.

We aren't any closer to finding out after a special meeting in Buena Vista Township on Monday night.

It was a short meeting, with the public section lasting only 10 minutes before board members took the meeting behind closed doors.

When they emerged nearly an hour later, the meeting was quickly adjourned.

This special meeting was called to deal with legal issues.

One of the legal issues is a lawsuit filed by former police Chief Brian Booker.

As you recall, Booker was fired back in February by former township manager Bregitte Braddock.

Soon after, Booker filed a lawsuit against the city and Braddock over his termination.

Braddock is now gone, but the lawsuit remains.

"It's no secret those issues are still somewhat sensitive and hot, but there is clearly a direction by legal council that we can not divulge specifics." said Dwayne Parker, township supervisor.

There was speculation this meeting could mean Booker may be getting his job back, but that didn't happen Monday night.

The board is scheduled to meet next week for their regular board meeting.
