THETFORD TOWNSHIP, MI (WNEM) -

An unfortunate incident right before Christmas as a leader in local law enforcement loses everything in a house fire.

Thetford Township Police chief Bob Kenny went out to dinner Saturday night with his wife and when they returned home, they couple found their home in flames.

Chief Kenny's wife also serves the community, working at the Clio police department.

The couple have two girls, ages 11 and 6, and a 2-year-old boy.

Family and friends say they're planning to collect donations for chief Kenny and his wife Monday at Fire Station 2 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.

A drop off location will start Wednesday at Thetford Township, 4014 E Vienna Rd. in Clio.

A Facebook page has also been created to encourage people to donate.
