The man accused of shooting at drivers along Michigan highways was in court Thursday.
Raulie Casteel was arraigned on new felony charges in Howell, Livingston County and was formally charged with terrorism. He was also charged with assault with intent to murder. Casteel already faces dozens of charges in Oakland and Livingston counties. But a terrorism charge and assault with intent to murder has been added to the list.
The seven new counts, including terrorism, came three weeks after Attorney General Bill Schuette announced he was taking over cases at the request of prosecutors in Livingston, Ingham and Shiawassee counties.
The shooting spree started in October, crossing into Ingham and Shiawassee counties. Only one person was hurt.
Casteel has described himself online as a geologist with experience in environmental cleanup. His Twitter feed is deeply critical of President Barack Obama.
The Saginaw News is reporting that Casteel has no prior criminal record. Casteel's mother Lana Hunt has told the Detroit Free Press that she's worried he might be mentally ill but refuses to see a doctor.
Most of the shootings, which were reported between Oct. 16 and Oct. 27, targeted cars near I-96.
