The Saginaw Spirit dropped their first game back from the holiday break, falling in Plymouth 4-2 to the archrival Whalers.
Although the Spirit outshot the Whalers 49-35, four different Whaler skaters put pucks past Nakita Serebryakov to propel Plymouth to victory.
Garrett Ross and Eric Locke both scored for Saginaw, who have not had a two-game winning streak since Nov. 9 and 10.
The Spirit return home to the Dow Event Center Saturday for Chris Osgood Night.
The two-time Stanley Cup winner will be in Saginaw for the Spirit's game against the Windsor Spitfires. Osgood will sign autographs in the Blue Line Club from 6 p.m. to 8:15 p.m.
The puck will drop at 7:11 p.m.
