Advice columnist talks about 'Getting Naked' in 2013

Posted: Updated:

Most of us make New Year's resolutions, and for some, it may be to take a risk, or perhaps find that special someone. Well, one advice columnist claims he has the secret to achieving both and it might not be what you would expect.

"So are you single or are you in a relationship?" said Harlan Cohen. That's not his pickup line, he just wants everyone find the love of their life. So how does he suggest doing so?

"Getting naked," Cohen said - strip yourself of everything and lay it on the line.

"So the book's called Getting Naked, Five Steps to Find the Love of Your Life While Fully Clothed and Totally Sober," Cohen said, speaking of his latest book. He is a nationally syndicated advice columnist and wrote the book, Getting Naked, to help people take the dating world by force - which is very fitting for the new year.  And he said he has plenty of success stories.

"There is a guy who walked into a UPS store and saw a woman he found attractive and he approached her saying what he thought, and I think his line was, 'I think I know you, you look really familiar,' but he didn't know her," Cohen said. "And she didn't run away, and he did it during daylight hours while sober and she gave him her number and called her and took her on a date and ended up marrying her."

That guy, of course, is Cohen. Now that he has your attention, he told us he has many steps to getting naked. One is to accept rejection. Another is find something you like to do and go do it, whether it's a pottery class or a pilates session.

"Repeat until you get what you want, until you find the love of your life," Cohen said.
