SAGINAW COUNTY, MI (WNEM) -
Changes are coming to Saginaw County, as it's the end of the road for a longtime public official.
Saginaw County Prosecutor Mike Thomas will be leaving office after more than 20 years. Thomas started back in 1989 and was re-elected a number of times.
Thomas lost in the primary in August to John McColgan Jr., who will assume office later this month.
In December, Thomas was hired as a special assistant to the state attorney general.
Saginaw County's controller is expected to be replaced soon as well. The county board voted in its last session to offer Bay City City Manager Robert Belleman the position.
An employment contract is still being negotiated with Belleman and is expected to be completed this month. The first scheduled meeting for the new year is at 5 p.m.
The agenda is set to include election of chair and vice chair for the board.
