Washington's Lottery posts wrong winning numbers on website

Posted: Updated:

Washington's Lottery briefly posted incorrect winning numbers on its website Wednesday.

Lottery officials said a "technical difficulty" caused the wrong winning numbers to be posted for the Veterans Raffle and said the incorrect numbers were removed as soon as the error was recognized.

The correct numbers have since been posted on the Washington's Lottery website.

Washington's Lottery issued a statement Thursday, apologizing for the "confusion and inconvenience." Lottery officials also pointed out that the law does not require Washington's Lottery to pay winning tickets unless they can be validated in the lottery system.

Washington's Lottery also said it is bringing in a third party to conduct an audit of its processes to ensure this doesn't happen again.
