Readings were running 2 to 4 degrees colder Sunday morning than this time Saturday.
Plumbers told CBS 5 News this weekend that they are working around the clock to fix broken pipes and homeless shelters in town are also pulling some double duty.
"We are going 24/7 right now," said Patrick Corradino with Valleywide Plumbing.
He said he was fixing busted pipes all day Saturday and lot of the problems are the exposed lines either on top of a home or the ones leading water into a house. But it's not too late to protect your pipes for Saturday night's expected freezing temperatures.
"At least get a thermal barrier of some kind and try to wrap up your main water feeds to your house," said Corradino.
The Phoenix Rescue Mission hit the road in their "Hope Coach" Saturday morning making sure that those without shelter have food and water and blankets. It is a van that they stock with supplies and carry out to people on the streets in the Phoenix area.
"I have a lot of blankets, and I was blessed by another random individual who came through and gave me a really big blanket," said a man named Russell who is living on the streets right now in Phoenix.
Homeless shelters were trying to meet the needs of those on the streets.
"We've opened up more of the facility just for folks to come in and get warm."
In addition to the Phoenix Homeless Shelter, the Central Arizona Shelter downtown also has extra space available for the night.
