Michigan Citizen Action and the Fan Freedom Project are warning consumers about the restricted ticketing policies in effect for Kid Rock's April 5 and 6 shows at the Dow Event Center in Saginaw.

The groups say fans will want to review this relatively new ticket policy closely before purchasing tickets to the shows, which go on sale this Saturday, Jan. 19 at 10 a.m.

According to Ticketmaster, restricted tickets will be used for some 400 seats at the Dow Event Center Kid Rock concerts, requiring fans to present the credit card used to purchase the ticket and a valid photo ID at the venue in order to gain admittance.  A total of 6,000 tickets are for sale, so the restricted nature of the tickets is limited in their impact.

Restricted tickets are also non-transferable and cannot be given away as gifts or resold should a fan not be able to attend the event.

"Buyer beware," warned FFP Consumer Advocate Elizabeth Owen. "If you purchase tickets as a gift or on behalf of friends, make sure you read the fine print; they may not be able to enter the arena without you or you might end up with a ticket you can't give away."

According to the groups, in 2012, eight major concerts in Michigan utilized restricted tickets, leaving many fans frustrated when they could no longer use their tickets but were forced to let them, and their money, go to waste.

"Purchasing tickets as gifts for family and friends is a common practice," said Linda Teeter, executive director of Michigan Citizen Action. "Anti-consumer policies like restricted tickets unfairly strip fans of the freedom to give away, donate or sell the tickets they rightfully own."
