A number of power outages are being reported around the area because of the windy weather that blew through the area over the weekend.
Most of the outages are being reported by DTE Energy, which services most of the Thumb. Many areas of the Thumb were hit especially hard with as many as 20 percent of the area's residents and customers being affected.
There were also reports of downed power lines around the Thumb region.
As of 8 a.m. Monday morning, approximately 30,000 DTE Energy customers across the state were without power. In Tuscola County, about 2,400 customers were in the dark at last check. In Huron County, 2,300 customers are offline. In Sanilac County, 1,400 customers are without power and in Lapeer County, about 1,500 customers are in the dark.
Most customers are expected to be restored by midnight Monday evening.
Consumer's Energy has wrapped up most of the reported outages in their service area. There were still about 46 customers in Genesee County without power as of 8 a.m. Monday morning.
Consumer's customers also can expect to be back online by Monday evening.
