Retirees of McLaren Health Care will be able to ask questions about an error involving their pensions during an upcoming meeting.
The hospital recently notified people about a miscalculation that resulted in overpayments and underpayments to their pensions. The error affects pensions for 283 people.
McLaren is hosting two meetings for retirees and their spouses to ask any questions they might have. The meetings are scheduled for Jan. 28 at the Lincoln Center in Bay City. Meeting times are at 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. Retirees are encouraged to RSVP due to limited seating.
The deadline will also be extended for retirees to evaluate their options. Retirees were initially asked to make a decision by Feb. 1 but now the deadline is extended until April 1. The amount owed can be paid in full or with a reduction to the retiree's monthly check.
About 213 employees were overpaid and will end up owing money. McLaren is also charging interest on top of the mistake. About 70 employees were underpaid.
