Ex-cons get help finding work

Posted: Updated:

The job market in Michigan is tough, with thousands of people looking for work.

Landing that job can be even more challenging if you have a criminal record, but a new program is offering help.

Thursday, hundreds of people attended a workshop in Flint, looking for a second chance.

Its called Community Ventures, a state-run program to help individuals convicted of a felony find full-time employment.

The program offers training, a job coach to help with the transition back into the workforce, and even transportation and childcare.

Companies who hire those in the program will receive a $5,000 wage reimbursement.

The program is still looking for companies that want to help.
