Saginaw's newly revived Hoyt Park is hosting a family skate weekend. The warming house will be open Saturday and Sunday, complete with free hot chocolate.
"In the 40s and 50s there were 7,000 people a day that used to come down here and skate. I hope it gets to that again," said Paul Verciglio with Friends of Hoyt Park.
The park opened for skating this winter after nearly a decade without and outdoor ice rink. Skate rental is $2 per person.
Team members from the Saginaw Spirit will hit the ice on Sunday from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. to skate with everyone. They will also be available to sign autographs.
Hoyt Park is located in Saginaw on S. Washington Ave. between Ezra Rust Drive and E. Holland Ave.
