(WMC-TV) - As this winter storm moves in, we are monitoring power outages. According to the Entergy outage map, there is a small outage in Little Rock and to the West in the Hot Springs area. Here in the Mid-South crews are prepped in case the lights go out.
Electricity is a worry for power companies throughout Arkansas and here in the Mid-South. It could mean no heat and no traffic lights - which could wreak havoc on the roads.
In Arkansas, electric companies are prepped for the worst. Entergy Arkansas now has nearly 1,000 extra restoration workers in place - ready to help if needed.
North Arkansas Electric Cooperatives has also brought in extra help, and says they are prepared to fix any outages as quickly as possible.
"We don't want to alarm anybody, y'know," said Mel Coleman, CEO, North Arkansas Electric Cooperatives. "Weather can change, it can change for the better or it can change for the worse, we're just gonna be prepared for it and hope our members are as well."
Since parts of the Mid-South have not seen outages yet, now is the time to get ready. Make sure you have working flash lights with fresh batteries, a supply of food and water for several days. Also, make sure your pets and medications are taken care of.
