The Michigan Democratic Party has a new leader, and state Republicans have re-elected theirs.
Mark Brewer withdrew from the race at the party convention in Detroit, meaning challenger Lon Johnson now has the job.
Republicans, meanwhile, kept Bobby Schostak as the state party chairman at its convention in Lansing.
He narrowly beat Lapeer attorney Todd Courser, 52 percent to 48 percent.
Supporters credit Schostak with helping the GOP maintain control of the state House and the Supreme Court.
