McLaren Bay Region Hospital announces layoffs

BAY CITY, MI (WNEM) -

McLaren Bay Region Hospital has announced layoffs, and that they are phasing out Licensed Practical Nurses.

Beginning April 1, those LPN's are being replaced by Registered Nurses.

The hospital says Registered Nurses typically have an additional two to three years of medical education and training.

McLaren is eliminating 30 of its 35 LPN positions, but McLaren did say it could hire them for other positions in the hospital.
