An empty school hallway.
SAGINAW, MI (WNEM) -
Many people are wondering how the winter weather is affecting their children and the school calendar.
Several school districts canceled classes Wednesday, using up another snow day.
So how many snow days are left and when will the cancellations start to cut into your family vacation time?
Each school district gets 30 hours of snow days without penalty, which comes out to six days. And as of Wednesday, some schools are out of freebies.
WNEM.com is told Lapeer Community Schools is now at 10 days, meaning they're four days beyond the limit. School officials say they will now start tacking on extra days at the end of the school year.
In Saginaw Township, school officials told us this was the third snow day, meaning they have a few more left.
And Flint Community Schools have used five of the six days. We reached out to other local districts, but did not get a response.
