TUSCOLA COUNTY, MI (WNEM) -

One person is still missing in the Saginaw Bay. The Coast Guard responded Saturday around 8 p.m. to a report of two people missing in the water. Their airboat capsized about 5 miles off Fish Point.

Sunday morning the Huron County Sheriff's Department started a search for the body. Divers from Huron County are providing mutual aid to Tuscola County.

A 39-year-old man from Reese is believe to be dead. The Coast Guard suspended its efforts because they do not believe the man will be found alive.

The men ran into trouble Saturday night. After a call for help aCoast Guard rescue crew launched a 20-foot special purposed aircraft to assist in the search. An aircrew from Detroit also responded aboard a rescue helicopter. Additional rescue crews also came from Tuscola County Fire and Police as well as a rescue airboat crew from Huron County.

One of the men was found clinging to the hull of the capsized airboat. He was transported to Bay City Medical Center where he was reported in stable condition.

The rescued person told the Coast Guard both men tried to swim through open water to the nearest ice floe, but he returned to the capsized airboat to await rescue and had not seen the second man since.
