SAGINAW, MI (WNEM) -

Saginaw Police are investigating after a shooting claimed the life of a 27-year-old man on Monday afternoon.

Officers were dispatched to 3145 Russell Street in Saginaw around 2 p.m. after someone reported a man down. That's on Saginaw's south side.

Upon arrival, police found the man suffering from gunshot wounds. Ambulance crews responding to the shooting pronounced the man dead at the scene. The man's name is being withheld until his family has been notified.

No further information was released. Saginaw detectives ask that anyone with information on the shooting call police at 989-759-1598 or CRIMESTOPPERS at 1-800-422-JAIL.

Monday's incident is Saginaw's first shooting homicide of 2013, but second murder overall. A few weeks ago, a man in his 50s was found beaten to death in his front yard. Several people were arrested in connection to that man's death.
