DOUGLAS, AZ (CBS5) -
Thee men are being held on a $500,000 cash bond after police uncovered their kidnapping plot.
Cochise County Sheriff's Office said the men were masked and attacked a victim who went to what he thought was a possible investment property on Southern Methodist Drive.
Police said one of the suspects then went to the Douglas Police Department and told officers that he and a friend went to look at a house when he was allegedly assaulted.
Deputies got a search warrant for the man's home and vehicle and found evidence that linked him to an assault. Detectives said the man reporting the incident, later identified as Francisco Parra, 35, along with his brother, Erik Parra, 33, and Gabriel Owen, 34, had planned to kidnap the victim and hold him hostage. The three were reportedly planning to call the victim's family and demand a more than $1 million ransom.
Police said after the victim was able to escape, Francisco Parra went to Douglas police to make it look like he was also a victim.
