Saginaw Spirit Secure Playoff Spot with Win in Guelph

SAGINAW, MI (WNEM) -
The Saginaw Spirit took on the Guelph Storm on Saturday night, winning on the road 5 - 3, and with that earning a spot in the Western Conference playoffs.
The game opened up with a solid finishing effort by, Terry Trafford, his 11th of the season, assisted by Nick Moutrey and Justin Kea. Eric Locke then completed the scoring play for the Spirit with an unassisted tally for his 42nd of the season. The first ended Saginaw 2 - Guelph 0.
The Spirit and the Storm came out strong in the second. The first goal of the period was by Jake Ringuette, to score his 1st OHL career goal, which was assisted by Brandon Lindberg and Gregg Sutch. The final goal of the period came off the stick of Spirit Captain Garret Ross, his 42nd of the season, assisted by Nick Moutrey. The period ended Saginaw 4 - Guelph 0.
Both teams came out with a solid effort in the third. The Storm added to their score on a tally by Tanner Richard, his 10th of the season, with the assists coming from Zac Leslie and Ryan Horvat. Eric Locke answered to add to the total on the power play, his 43rd of the season, assisted by Chicago Blackhawks prospect, Garret Ross, and Jimmy Lodge. Patrick Watling fired back to score on the power play for Guelph, his 10th of the season, from Cody McNaughton and Ryan Horvat. The final goal of the night came from Ryan Horvat, his 10th of the season, assisted by Cody McNaughton. The game ended Saginaw 5 - Guelph 3, with the shots on goal Guelph 37 - Saginaw 22.
