The Saginaw Spirit hit the road over the weekend and took two of three games. Saginaw won in Kitchener 4-3 Friday night in a shootout in front of a crowd of more than 7,300 Ranger fans.
Terry Trafford, Jimmy Lodge and Steven Strong all lit the lamp for the Spirit.
Saginaw won their second in a row on Saturday, beating the Storm in Guelph 5-3. Saginaw clinched the eighth and final playoff spot in the Western Conference with the victory.
Eric Locke netted two goals and Terry Trafford, Garret Ross and Jacob Ringuette finished the Spirit scoring.
Guelph outshot the Spirit 37-22.
Plymouth handed Saginaw their first loss of the weekend, beating the Spirit 7-5 on Sunday. Dalton Young scored two goals in a losing effort.
The Spirit are now 31-28-3-3 (68) and sit in fourth place in the West Division.
Saginaw next plays at Sarnia, before returning home for their final home game of the regular season Friday against the Kitchener Rangers. The puck drops at 7:11 p.m. Friday.
