Michigan State Police gets new recruits

EAST LANSING, MI (WNEM) -

Thursday is a big day for some new recruits as 13 members of the 18th Motor Carrier Recruit school will be sworn in as State Police Motor Carrier Officers.

The ceremony takes place at the Kellogg Hotel and Conference Center in East Lansing at 1 p.m. Thursday.

The new recruits will be assigned to the MSP Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division. The Division enhances commercial vehicle traffic safety through high visibility enforcement activities, protects state highway infrastructure through aggressive size and weight enforcement and provides for homeland security through the enforcement of hazardous material regulations and criminal interdiction.

The Kellogg Hotel and Conference Center is located at 219 S. Harrison Rd. in East Lansing.
