MT. PLEASANT, MI (WNEM) -
According to Central Michigan University professor Dr. Axel Millinger, the comet Pan-STARRS is visible from the skies of Mid-Michigan.
Millinger sent WNEM.com a time-lapse video that he shot from the roadside a few miles north-west of Mt. Pleasant. That video is viewable by clicking the video above.
"To view the comet, you need clear skies, an unobstructed western horizon and a pair of binoculars," said Millinger in an email on Thursday. "Best visibility is currently between 8:30 p.m. and 9 p.m."
The professor said the comet will continue to be visible in the evening sky throughout March and April, although its brightness will gradually fade.
