MT. PLEASANT, MI (WNEM) -
An exhibit featuring the history of Dow Chemical in Mount Pleasant is now on display at Central Michigan University.
The Clarke Historical Library's current exhibit, "Drilling for Brine: The Dow Chemical Plant in Mount Pleasant, 1903-1930," opened in February and will be displayed through the summer.
The Dow Chemical Company's Midland operations are well known. The company's roots in Mount Pleasant date back to 1903 with the drilling of brine wells and construction of a bromide plant. The exhibit showcases Dow's history in the community until it closed operations in 1930.
