FLINT, MI (WNEM) -

Michigan State Police troopers were called to investigate an attempted carjacking on Tuesday in the Kroger parking lot on Corunna Road near I-75.

The victim, a 44-year-old Flint woman, told troopers she was seated in her vehicle when a black man entered the passenger side, brandished a knife and told her to drive. Complying with the suspect's demands, the victim drove through several side streets before turning south on Barney Avenue from Corunna Road.

The woman told investigators the suspect told her to stop and get out. As she exited the vehicle, a struggle broke out over her purse. During the struggle, the victim accelerated and the man fell from the partially opened passenger door. Police say the victim suffered only non-life-threatening injuries in the assault.

The suspect is described as black, standing 5'10" and weighing about 180 pounds. The victim described him as having a medium build, dark complexion with scruffy facial hair. He was last seen wearing a brown hat with ear flaps and a black, puffy jacket.

Anyone with information is urged to contact MSP trooper Rodgers at 810-733-5869.
