A 50-year-old Coleman man accused of trying to kill his own son with a hammer is expected to be arraigned Tuesday.

State police say it happened Friday on the 6000 block of North East County Line Road in Isabella County's Wise Township.

Police said the father hit his 27-year-old son over the head with a claw hammer.

The father, whose name has not been released pending the arraignment, is in jail right now and is facing five felony charges.

Those charges are assault with intent to murder, assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder, assault with a dangerous weapon, domestic violence-aggravated, and operating with a license suspended.

At last word, the victim was recovering at Saint Mary's Hospital in Saginaw.
