Police are searching for the man suspected of a possible armed robbery at a gun shop in Gladwin County and now the ATF and a national shooting sports organization are offering up to $10,000 reward.

Police have said that they have a person of interest that they are currently pursuing. That person's name is Charles "Chuck" Rowan. He apparently has family in the Gladwin area but is believed to be living in the Saginaw area.

Authorities tell TV5 Rowan is an absconder from probation and his criminal record shows he failed to register as a sex offender as well as attempting to deliver a controlled substance, marijuana in this case.

Investigators are also seeking a woman who may have witnessed the crime. Her name is Rosalinda Martinez and the sheriff said she called 911. Martinez was a customer in the shop and was to be checked out for injuries once police arrived at the scene. Not much is known about what happened to Martinez or her involvement in the case but police are hoping to learn more about her.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms is offering up to $5,000 reward for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for the assault on the Gladwin gun store owner. The National Shooting Sports Foundation is matching any reward money paid by the ATF.

Gladwin County Sheriff Mike Shea tells TV5 that Guns and Stuff, a gun shop located at 895 Chappel Dam Road in Sage Township, just west of Gladwin, was allegedly robbed by an armed and masked man Monday afternoon around 2 p.m.  Shea is not releasing whether this robbery suspect got away with any guns at this time. WNEM is also aware that there is a manhunt for the suspect.

"We've got some leads, so we're going to check those out before we get too deep into the information," he said. "It was a possible robbery attempt, as best we got called in. It was reported to us by way of a female who was at the store at the time of the robbery."

The suspect is believed to have fled on foot and possibly had a car waiting nearby.  K-9's lost track of the suspect's footprints when they reached a nearby road.

The sheriff told us the robbery suspect assaulted the owner of Guns and Stuff. That owner has been identified as Richard Robinette. The sheriff, again citing the investigation, would not go into specific details of the injuries or how they were inflicted, but did say Robinette sustained severe trauma to the head.  Robinette was found lying on the floor of the shop with severe head injuries. Robinette was transported to a downstate hospital. At last check, Robinette is listed in critical condition.

Sheriff Shea tells us the ATF and other agencies are involved in the robbery investigation. He said gun sale checks will be performed to determine if any inventory is missing.

On Monday, TV5 reported Saginaw Central Dispatch received a "be on the lookout" advisory from the Gladwin County Sheriff's Department related to a shooting in Gladwin County, which alerted police agencies in Mid-Michigan to watch out for a pink Chevrolet Beretta seen leaving the area of a shooting.  The sheriff told us Monday evening that vehicle was suspected to be at the gun shop earlier in the day, but did not confirm its involvement.

If you have any information, you're urged to call the Gladwin County Sheriff's Department at 989-426-9284.
