A number of local boy's high school basketball teams are still in action, hoping to advance to the MHSAA tournament's Final Four.
In Class A, the defending state champion Saginaw Trojans will be looking to return to the final four as they take on Ypsilanti at 7 p.m. at Grand Blanc high school. The Trojans have won three state titles in the last decade. Saginaw is 22-3. Ypsi comes in at 20-4.
In Class B, Flint Powers will have the tough task of trying to get by the No. 1 ranked team in the state. The Chargers (13-12) will face Detroit Country Day (22-3) in Imlay City.
Defending Class C state champ Beecher will have its hands full as they face 20-3 Detroit Consortium at West Bloomfield. Many believe that the winner of this game will be heavy favorites to take home the Class C title. Beecher is ranked number one with a 24-and-1 record.
Beaverton will be looking to advance as they take on Laingsburg at Delta College. Both teams check in at 22-2. The Beavers wrapped up their regional by topping Saginaw Valley Lutheran last week.
In Class D, Beal City will be looking to make its first appearance in the final four. The Aggies will battle 21-3 Lansing Christian at Lansing Eastern high school.
Beal City has been known as a power house in both baseball and football. And their success in those sports has been key in their run on the hardwood.
