Police have responded to multiple accidents in Mid-Michigan, one of which had an elderly female driver trapped inside of her vehicle.
That accident happened near the intersection of Williamson Road and Sheridan Road in Saginaw. The woman was trapped inside of her vehicle for a short time but she has since been freed and has been taken to an area hospital for treatment. Her condition is unknown but her injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
The woman's vehicle was believed to be the only car involved in that accident. Saginaw County Police and Buena Vista Township Police responded to the scene. The westbound lane of Williamson Road was closed as a result of the crash. The roadway has since reopened.
Another accident took place near the intersection of Hemlock and Geddes roads in Richland Township. Four vehicles were believed to be involved in that crash. It is not known of the extent of injuries sustained in the accident. The accident happened around 7 a.m.
In Midland County, South Saginaw Road was closed at East Haley due to an injury accident but officials have reopened the roadway. That area is just north of East Patrick Road.
In Bay City, there was a crash at the intersection of Trumbull Road and 22nd Street. The area is near the McLaren Bay Region hospital on the east side of the city. WNEM has received word that one of the vehicles involved hit a house but not much damage was caused as a result. Police are urging drivers to avoid the area. There was also an accident reported at the intersection of McKinley and Johnson Streets in Bay City.
Be careful when traveling on secondary roads as WNEM has received word of black ice in numerous locations throughout Mid-Michigan. The high winds continue to blow snow over the roadways in areas of open fields.
WNEM will continue to gather more information on both of the accidents and will provide new information as it is learned.
