Ex-U. of Mich. doctor sentenced in child porn case

Posted: Updated:

A former resident physician at University of Michigan Hospital has been sentenced to three years in prison in a child pornography case that revealed a delay in crime reporting.

The case of Stephen Jenson showed a six-month delay in 2011 in reporting to police the discovery of suspected child pornography on a computer flash drive in a University of Michigan Hospital lounge. The school later made changes to improve safety.

The Michigan Daily and AnnArbor.com report Jenson was sentenced Thursday in Detroit federal court on possession of child pornography charge.

An investigation determined a hospital attorney aware of the discovery in May 2011 decided after a month there wasn't enough evidence to tell police. Police were notified in November 2011. Charges first were brought against Jenson in December 2011.
