Retired Democratic U.S. Rep. Dale Kildee will consult on American Indian law with Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld, an international law and public policy group.
MLive.com also reports Friday that the 83-year-old Kildee will work as a policy adviser for Ietan Consulting.
Kildee is expected to consult with tribes and American Indian organizations on legislative and policy issues.
Washington D.C.-based Ietan specializes in working on behalf of tribal governments. The company has a strategic alliance with Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld.
Kildee retired in 2012 after 18 terms in Congress. He had served as a co-chairman of the Congressional Native American Caucus. He also served in the Michigan House from 1965 through 1974, when he was elected to the state Senate.
