The community will come together Friday to pay tribute to a mother of three whose body was found earlier this week near the Michigan-Ohio border.
A candlelight vigil is at Tanisha Colton's home on Gilespie Street in Flint.
She had been missing for nearly two weeks after last being seen leaving her job in Flint Township. Police are questioning a person of interest.
The vigil begins at 7:30 p.m.
First Lt. Matt Bolger with the Michigan State Police post in Flint confirmed that 27-year-old Tansiha Colton's body was spotted by a passing motorist in a ditch Monday. Police are treating the case as a homicide. An autopsy is scheduled to be completed in the case.
Bolger also confirmed that police have a suspect of interest in custody but that suspect is being held on an unrelated charge.
Searchers canvassed streets and neighborhoods around where she was last seen March 13. That's when authorities said her boyfriend picked her up from work at Heritage Manor Healthcare in Flint Township. That boyfriend is the father of her three children.
Family, friends and even members of the community all stepped up in the last few days to find Colton.
Flint Police Lt. Mike Mahan said Colton's boyfriend was taken into custody for questioning. He was jailed for unpaid child support, but then later released. Investigators said there are still plenty of questions they need answered.
Funeral arraignments are being handled by Serenity Funeral Chapel in Flint. They told TV5 that any cash or check donations can be paid to Serenity Funeral Chapel, or Citizens Bank, to the Tanisha Colton Fund. Anyone with questions can contact them at 810-787-2225.
