Michigan residents have a chance to buy a piece of state-owned land this month.
The Michigan Department of Natural Resources says more than 25 state-owned properties are for sale by sealed-bid auction. The available properties are in Berrien, Manistee, Menominee and Newaygo Counties and became state property when the owners missed tax payments.
The sale funds recreational programs.
Available properties are as large as 200 acres and vary from lakeside to forested land. Residents can view information about the properties online, including photos, property descriptions and the minimum bid amount. All bid forms for this auction must be postmarked by midnight May 2.
