NCAA fans rub elbows with NBA greats

Posted: Updated:

Some big-name, former NBA players showed up for the official NCAA Elite Fan Experience with Prime Sport.

The pre-game party was a chance for fans to take look back at the history of the NCAA while getting a closer look at some former college players who went on to play in pros - like Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.

"We've had a great time here in Atlanta," Abdul-Jabbar said. "The city has done a great job hosting the events."

Abdul-Jabbar and fellow hall-of-famer Elgin Baylor were just a couple of the NBA greats who showed up to greet fans.

Randy Hite, of Wyoming, attended the Monday evening pre-game event with his father.

"[It's] just kind of the atmosphere. The pre-game atmosphere being around all, everybody," Hite said.

It's the kind of atmosphere where Louisville fans and Michigan fans can dine together, all the while taking in some basketball history during 75th year of March Madness.

Fans got a chance to see what it's like to win the championship trophy and take a picture that will last a lifetime.

Retired NBA player Tim Hardaway Sr. made the day of a little fan by autographing his NCAA souvenir pennant.

"The fans make the game. Even though we play the game, the fans make the game because they're out their cheering for you," Hardaway said.

When it comes to the 2013 NCAA Championship game Hardaway is a fan, too. His son Tim Hardaway Jr. plays guard for Michigan.

Michigan and Louisville are playing for the NCAA Championship title.
