The Dollar General where Lewis was picked up by police.
MIDLAND COUNTY, MI (WNEM) -
A Midland County woman was able to escape an attempted abduction attempt by her former fiance on Tuesday after officers said the man forced his way into her home.
Police had been on the lookout for Woodie Carl Lewis, but just after noon, TV5 was informed that authorities caught him at a dollar store on M-20 and Chippewa River Road.
Lewis allegedly broke into the woman's Lee Township home, tied her up and refused to let her leave the home. The victim was able to free herself and drove to a friend's house to call police. The victim was treated at an area hospital for her injuries.
Police said Lewis is from Clinton Township in Metro Detroit, but he has ties to the area and once lived in Mt. Pleasant.
