A 102-year-old woman who was married for 83 years to a man she met in a rural Michigan church has died.
Victoria Wrubel died Monday at Angelica's Place in Romeo.
She grew up in the largely Polish community of Parisville, an unincorporated village in Huron County in Michigan's rural Thumb.
In a March interview, Steve Wrubel told the Detroit Free Press that he fell in love with Victoria Puvalowski after the two met as children at St. Mary Catholic Church.
The 103-year-old retired autoworker says he remembers her as "this little girl with curly hair."
They were married Sept. 28, 1929, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Ubly.
The couple lived in Mount Morris after Steve Wrubel retired from General Motors. They later lived in Holiday, Fla.
