Thousands without power due to wicked weather

Lots of power outages are being reported in the area due to the wicked weather that continues to fall across Mid-Michigan.

  • In Midland County, about 170 outages are being reported in an area near Chippewa River road between M-20 and West Stewart Road.
  • 1271 customers are in the dark in a pocket of outages from West River Road to North Alamando Road.  The outages reach north to Skenes Road all the way south to West Nielson Road.
  • 393 customers are in the dark in a pocket from East Saginaw Road north to East Shaffer Road. That outage reaches west to North Lake Road and east to North Meridian Road.
  • 932 customers are in the dark in Warren Township near Coleman in a pocket that reaches north to the Gladwin County Line. That same pocket reaches west to the Isabella County Line and east to North Magruder road.
  • 341 customers are offline in Mills Township in eastern Midland County.
  • In Gladwin County, 591 customers are in the dark in Tobacco Township, stretching west to the village of Beaverton. 229 customers are offline in Beaverton Township. 118 customers are offline near the Gladwin State Park. 111 customers are in the dark from Smith Road to West Howard Road. That pocket of outages reaches west to Croft Road and east to Dundas Road.
  • 596 customers are offline in an area reaching north into Gladwin Township all the way south into Hay Township. That pocket reaches west to M-30 and east to Deer Road.
  • 79 customers are offline in the village of Rhodes. 144 are in the dark in Bentley Township.
  • In Arenac County, 319 customers are without power in an area of Lincoln Township stretching north to M-61 and south to Sagatoo Road.
  • 166 customers are in the dark in a pocket straddling the Arenac-Bay County Line. That area is north to Grim Road and then south to East Whitefeather Road.
  • 250 customers are without power north to Sagatoo Road south to Bay-Arenac Road. That pocket stretches west to North Mackinaw Road and east to State Road.
  • 267 customers are offline in Standish Township. Another 324 customers are in the dark in a pocket near State Road that stretches north to U.S. 23 and south to Pine River Road.
  • 250 customers are offline in Clayton Township.
  • A huge pocket of outages is being reported near the village of Prescott. Nearly 1,300 customers are offline in that pocket that stretches north of M-55 and south to Jose Road. That pocket extends west to North Melita Road and east to M-65.
  • 753 customes are offline in an area that stretches from the village of turner south to Arenac Township.
  • 530 customers are offline in Alabaster Township.
  • Another 711 customers are in the dark in Au Gres Township into the city of Au Gres.
  • 1,165 customers are in the dark in Sims Township.
  • In Iosco County, 233 customers are offline in Sherman Township. That pocket stretches south into Arenac County.
  • 209 customers are in the dark near National City and another 768 customers are offline near Tawas Township into the village of Tawas.
  • 1,114 customers are in the dark in a pocket near Lake Ogemaw between Tawas Road and Mills Road. That pocket stretches west to Morrison Road and east to Elbow Lake Road.
  • In Bay County, 259 customers are offline in the village of Bentley. 93 customers are offline in Mt. Forest Township. Close to 200 customers are offline in Pinconning Township. 92 customers are offline just south of Pinconning.
  • About 75 customers are offline in Garfield Township.
  • Just a few outages in Saginaw County. About 25 customers are in the dark in Richland Township, just north of Hemlock.

No restoration time has been given in any of the outages. We have received reports that there are a number of wires down in the area of Gibson and Mount Forrest Roads in northern Bay County.

There are also numerous reports of lines down near the Saganing and Standish areas.

Not much is happening in the Thumb as far as power outages. DTE Energy is reporting just over 50 customers in the dark.
