'Boston Solidarity Run' planned in Portland

Posted: Updated:
PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

The running community is rallying in support of victims of the Boston Marathon blasts, and the Portland Triathlon Club has planned a group run for Wednesday evening.

The club has made an open invitation to the entire running community for a friendly group run along the East Bank Esplanade at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday. Runners will meet by the Portland Fire and Rescue station and Vera Katz statue for the one-loop run along the Willamette River.

Those attending the group run are asked to wear a black band on their shoulder strap or a black arm warmer. Written signs and symbols of support are also encouraged.

"Let's create all the positive vibes we can muster for our friends in Boston," said a post on the group's Facebook page.
