With an estimated 160,000 children missing class each day on average because of bullying, St. Mary's is offering free classes and events throughout April to help bring awareness.
Two presentations have already taken place and an event is scheduled for Thursday at the St. Mary's building on Emerson Street in Saginaw.
The event is called What You Need to Know About Bullying, and two sessions will take place.
The first session is for adults and it will offer tips on cyber, verbal and physical bullying and ways to intervene as a bystander, and signs/symptoms to watch for. The first session takes place from 11 a.m. until 12 p.m.
The second session is for children and it discusses how to work with and avoid bullies, how to handle the stresses of being the victim and/or bully. That second session takes place from 4 until 5 p.m.
Both sessions will be presented by Nathan O'Neil, who is with Child and Family Services at St. Mary's.
