SAGINAW, MI (WNEM) -
Saginaw Police are investigating what they're calling a suspicious death at 1810 Boxwood, just off Holland Avenue, in Saginaw.
TV5's Gino Vicci reports that a woman's body was found Thursday around 11 a.m. in the passenger seat inside a Buick Rendezvous at the address. A K-9 unit was used to investigate around the neighborhood.
The family tells Vicci the woman was 22-year-old Kia Frierson.
Police said the woman appeared to have been shot. An autopsy is pending to confirm cause of death.
The Michigan State Police mobile crime lab has been called in to assist with the investigation.
According to one family member at the scene, Frierson was four to five months pregnant. A family friend told TV5 that her whereabouts were unknown until her car was spotted on the news in the driveway on Boxwood. They also say that she didn't live at that address.
Investigators were seen questioning at least one person. That man, according to neighbors, was taken in for questioning, but later released.
Police are asking that anyone with information on the woman's death call them at 989-759-1598.
If police rule this woman's death a homicide, it will be the city's ninth in 2013.
We'll update this story as we learn new facts in the case.
