Funeral plans released for country music legend George Jones

NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

Country music legend and Grand Ole Opry member George Jones died Friday at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, according to Webster & Associates Public Relations & Marketing.

Jones, 81, was hospitalized on April 18 with fever and irregular blood pressure.

The funeral will be held at the Grand Ole Opry House on Thursday, May 2nd at 10:00 a.m. and will be open to the public.

The Oak Ridge Boys are expected to perform, according to the groups Twitter page.

"George would have wanted his fans and friends everywhere to be able to come and pay their respects along with his family," said publicist Kirt Webster. 

"Thanks to George's friends, fans, and loved ones for the outpouring of love at this terrible time," said Nancy Jones. "I love you all." 

A private visitation for family, friends, and fellow performers will take place on Wednesday evening.
