A mystery still needs to be solved involving a late-night fire, a shooting and a dead body in Bridgeport, and now officials are trying to figure out how they're all connected.
For the third day investigators have been at the Bridgeport home after a fire broke out inside on Tuesday night. Around the same time, police said there was a shooting not too far away and then on Wednesday a body was found inside the burned-out home.
"It sounds fishy, but you never know," said Bridgeport resident Calvin Smith.
That's why detectives and fire officials spent the night sifting through the rubble.
Fire officials were called to the home after the fire was discovered at a home on the corner of Park Avenue and Worth Street around 11 p.m. Tuesday.
The shooting was reported a few blocks away on Linen Avenue.
When the body was discovered Wednesday, investigators said they're treating the discovery like a homicide, although they won't say how the person died.
"It doesn't even surprise me in this neighborhood," said resident Michael Taska. "Actually anywhere in Bridgeport. There's always something going on."
As state fire investigators and an arson dog made their way through the neighborhood, detectives huddled out in front of the three story home.
This is Bridgeport's first homicide of 2013.
"You wonder what's coming next," Smith said. It's getting hot out and people start to act crazy. You've got to be safe."
Anyone with information about any of the incidents is asked to call police.
