In a heartbreaking news conference Thursday morning, the parents of missing Eastern Connecticut State University student Alyssiah Wiley, who hasn't been seen since April 20, pleaded with the public to bring their child home.
"I'm pleading to the public, as a mother that wants her child home, we need her home," Corrinna Martin, Wiley's mother said, trying to hold back tears.
Wiley, a West Haven native, was last seen near a Dairy Queen near the Eastern campus in Willimantic.
The manager of the ice cream restaurant told Eyewitness News police have called the store, but he doesn't recognize her picture.
"We've had phone calls," said manager Paul Bertora.
Since then, Connecticut State Police said, detectives have talked with several possible witnesses that may have had information as to the Wiley's whereabouts.
"We're looking for any information from her friends or anyone that may have seen someone fitting (Wiley's) description," Connecticut State Police Lt. J. Paul Vance said.
Since Wiley was reported missing, Vance said the search has expanded across several Connecticut cities and towns including Mansfield in an attempt to locate her.
"I know there's someone out there that knows something," Martin said. "We're asking please, please, please, please find it in your heart to open your mouth and speak."
Alyssiah's father, Christopher Wiley said, "Please, please, help us."
Eyewitness News learned Alyssiah Wiley had a boyfriend, but police are not calling him a suspect.
Investigators said they did find a car they were looking for in Bridgeport, but won't say how it may be connected to her disappearance.
Alyssiah Wiley did have credit cards and a cell phone, but police said there has been no activity on either since she disappeared.
"Please bring my baby home," Corrinna Martin said.
As the search for Wiley continues, Vance said spot checks will be conducted in Willimantic on Saturday night in an attempt to gather more information about her possible whereabouts.
In addition to the spot checks, a Facebook page has been set up for people to leave tips with any and all information someone may have in connection to Wiley's disappearance.
