A spokesperson for former Glendale Assistant Police Chief Greg Dominguez says he will have to sit home for one week without pay.
Dominguez has been suspended and demoted to commander.
He is accused of threatening to burn down "Spanky's Smoke Shop" at 88th Avenue and Bell Road for allegedly selling spice to his 17-year old son.
"Commander Dominguez still has rights afforded to him under 38-1101, as a result of the appeal process," Glendale police Officer Tracey J. Breeden said in an email. "The Glendale Police Department cannot comment on any specifics of the internal investigation, other than the discipline, until our employee has exhausted all of his rights of appeal."
Dominguez has been an employee with the Glendale Police Department for 28 years.
Rick St. John still has assumed title of interim assistant Chief of Police.
"Chief Deborah Black believes she will be able to name a new assistant chief next week," Breeden said.
