FINDLAY, OH (Toledo News Now) -

In a turnaround, the Findlay Fire Department is asking for your help, and you barely have to lift a finger.

Findlay firefighter Chad Weaver and his family are trying to win a much-needed wheelchair-accessible vehicle to help easier care for their 5 year-old son, Owen.

Owen has Pneumoccocal Meningitis; an extremely deadly form of Bacterial Meningitis.

Owen has developed many medical conditions and developmental disabilities as a result of the infection and he requires constant care.

The family is asking everyone who can, to read Owen's story and vote, once a day, at http://www.mobilityawarenessmonth.com/entrant/owen-weaver-bluffton-oh/

The contest is sponsored by the National Mobility Equipment Dealers Association in celebration of National Mobility Awareness Month. They are awarding three customized vehicles to the top three vote-getters in the contest.

Because of his condition Owen is unable to stand, crawl or walk; which has left him completely dependent on his parents for all of his needs.

Voting is open until May 19, 2013. Winners will be announced on May 31, 2013.

Another local woman, Zena Cole, is also in the contest.

She has post-polio syndrome and has been in a wheelchair since 1990.

Zena is the mother of 3 daughters and has competed in the wheelchair games around the world. She won a bronze medal in the London Paralympics.

You can see her story and vote, here.
