Home that helps recovering addicts opens in Midland

MIDLAND, MI (WNEM) -

A new lifeline for drug and alcohol abusers as an open house for sober living was held Sunday in Midland.

The home is the first of its kind, and officials hope to help many people in their recovery.

The house, located on Eastman Road is a former treatment facility and was renovated and turned into a sober house, all through donations and volunteers.

Fourteen men at different levels of sobriety will be staying at the house.

Some people may have just come out of treatment or have several years of sobriety.

The men can live at the home as long as they need to. Some may become permanent residents, helping others in their recovery.

They hope to start moving the men into the facility next week.
