TUCSON, AZ (CBS5) -
A man was arrested in Tucson Sunday afternoon on charges of attempted kidnapping and aggravated assault.
Alberto Martinez, 22, was booked into the Pima County Jail on suspicion of trying to grab a 15-year-old girl who was walking toward a bus stop in the 1400 block of North Wilmot Road after visiting a family member, police said.
The suspect told the girl that he was going to take her and implied that he would "hide her," according to a police report.
The girl was able to break free and escape. She immediately ran to a nearby business and called her mother, who then called 911 to report the incident.
As officers responded to the area, police received a report around the same time of a person causing a disturbance nearby.
The suspect descriptions from both the attempted abduction incident as well as that of the man behaving erratically in the complex were very similar, police said.
Police were able to locate the man at his residence.
The 15-year-old girl was not injured during the incident.
