TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) -

A TPS student was escorted off the premises of Rogers High School Monday for assaulting a school resource officer.

Police say the 17-year-old student was suspended for being truant and refusing to follow the directions of staff. They said the student did eventually leave the building, but he returned later.

Officers heard a disturbance in the hall during sixth hour, and discovered the suspect. Police say they asked him to leave again, and he refused. They said he was being loud and disorderly and punched the school officer in the head twice before he could be handcuffed.

Police also say the student made several threats to the officer and had to be restrained multiple times before being taken to the Juvenile Justice Center, where he was booked.
